12-metre monolith found on the seabed of the Sicilian Channel
A 12-metre-long submerged monolith has been found on the seabed of the Sicilian Channel, at a depth of 40 metres. Analyses show that it is man-made and not a natural formation. The monolith points to significant human activity on the island of Pantelleria Vecchia, which was submerged by the waters of the Mediterranean in 9350 ± 200 BC.
