The symbol and its meaning
The aim of this part of the site is also to explore the fascinating world of symbols, investigating not only their meaning and use but using them as a guide to trace history back to its most remote times, with the ultimate goal of unveiling its hidden mysteries.
Many questions led us along this path, and the more answers we found, the more aware we became of the immense importance that the symbol has had since the most distant eras of human history.
Symbols are not merely signs used for practical purposes within a society: they can convey information of the most varied kinds in an extraordinarily concise, immediate and effective way. Through the study of symbols it is possible to learn not only a society's level of development, both technical-scientific and spiritual, but also more practical facts, such as with whom it engaged in economic and cultural exchange and with whom it formed alliances, making it possible to trace the links between the various communities that have populated, and still inhabit, our world. The symbol can reveal much of what has not been fully understood about history, or what people chose not to tell. The symbol can give new meaning to past historical events and to those closer to us, but above all it can travel back up the inexorable flow of events to the original source.
